From the Flat Files 5
Santa. Tired and weary.
"The Day After." 12"x16.5" oil on primed 4-ply Strathmore Bristol paper. I painted it after college to supplement my portfolio and use as a Christmas card. Though it did get added to my portfolio for certain clients, it never became my Christmas card.
No real story behind it, but it was the first non-pet portrait that I recall painting after graduating in 1998. It's the day after Christmas (Boxing Day for some), so it seemed an obvious one to put up.
That's all I have the energy for today. Like St. Nick, I am wiped.
Until tomorrow...

I particularly like how your trademark dark-yet-luminous skies are already being foreshadowed back in 1998. Great (and brave) series.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure any of this is brave so much as stupid. As I was going through the flat files to check for damaged work while unpacking. Given that there was some stuff that did get a little banged up, scanning it all seemed like a good idea, and once I had things in the computer, it seemed like a natural thing to post it all. Well, some of it, anyway.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we're not the only ones enjoying it!
